Gothenburg-based "death disco" band KÅRP are back with their electrified new single "Greasy Makeup," a solid punch of knuckles greased with equal parts electro, synth-pop, and techno. It is the first single from the band's forthcoming EP - the final installment in their trilogy of EP's, centered around three stages of the apocalypse: Chaos, Silence, and The New World Order. The band's KRIS EP kicked off the trilogy at the start of 2022 with the euphoric and mesmerizing single, "It Looks Bad," followed by the spring release of KÅRP's Perfect Order EP.
The soundscape of "Greasy Makeup" is crafted of dark beats, compelling melodies and the hypnotic and shimmering vocals of songstress Anna-Maria. With comparisons drawn to The Knife, Lykke Li and Grimes, this is music that makes you feel first and dance later.
Providing deeper insight into the single, the band reveals, "This is the beginning of the end of the beginning. We are living in a time where it feels like the world has abandoned us. I mean, us humans. Everyone reacts differently to being abandoned; some arm themselves for battle, while others go out in the rain and let tears run down their cheeks. Whichever you prefer, we recommend that you do it to the sounds of 'Greasy Makeup.'"
While we await the release of the band's forthcoming EP, add "Greasy Makeup" to your apocalyptic music playlists and take in this mesmerizing new track.
