HAFFWAY | Whatever He's On (new single)

Oklahoma-raised, Nashville-based indie/soul singer-songwriter Sam Westhoff has been through several variations as an artist over the past few years. I first discovered Sam's music in the form of Colour, his impressive 2018 solo album that featured several captivating singles ("The Way That You Move," "Everyday," "Easy").

After a period of performing with soul/indie pop collective Lately. and working behind the scenes producing, writing and mixing music for other artists, Sam announced his new project, HAFFWAY, in early 2023. "This is it for me," Sam comments on social media. "I'm, for the first time, saying the things I have been wanting to say how I've wanted to say them. I feel like my life experience and my writing are aligning. HAFFWAY is this."

Following a series of single releases, HAFFWAY released its debut album, Prequel. Packed full of commanding vocals, stellar songwriting, and tight, clean production, every track on this album is outstanding. Anthemic and infectious songs like "East Coast" and "I Don't Need You Anymore" are juxtaposed against inspirational, soulful, and uplifting ballads ("Dirty Fire," "Splitting").

HAFFWAY's most recent single release, "Whatever He's On," is the lead track from the new EP of the same name. This killer three-minute infectious earworm is packed with a powerful, ultra-energized chorus that will have you singing or humming along after one listen. Lyrically, "Whatever He's On" alludes to self-reflection, pondering decisions about the big and small, and finding one's way, with a desire to re-ground oneself on the road of life.
