By now, I'm sure you've all heard that breathtaking song in the Apple iPhone 7 commercial ("Midnight") and have asked Siri to tell you what it's called. If you haven't, the song is called "In a Black Out" from the collaboration of Hamilton Leithauser (from NYC indie band The Walkmen) and Rostam Batmanglij (from NYC indie band Vampire Weekend), who go by the "that's a mouthful" artist name of Hamilton Leithauser + Rostam.
Their full-length album "I Had a Dream That You Were Mine" is hot off the presses, and contains some well-written songs that range from acoustic to indie rock with even a hint of classic 50's rock occasionally weaved in (e.g., "Where the Truth Is..."). There's no lack of emotion in the vocal delivery from Hamilton - he belts out the lyrics with an intensity that makes you want to see this band perform live and experience it first-hand. You can really feel the emotion throughout the entire album.
Follow Hamilton Leithauser + Rostam on their official website and Facebook. Give "I Had a Dream That You Were Mine" a listen on Spotify. If you're a vinyl enthusiast, the album is available on 180g vinyl with handwritten lyric booklet. Initial copies include a signed lithograph of the album cover.
