Swedish siblings Henrik and Tom Ljungqvist, have been working with music throughout their whole life, but only recently teamed up to create their incredible new two-man band, JUNG. The duo's most recent single, "This Could Be the End of It", is a tune that's been gleefully bouncing around in my headphones and playlists over the past several weeks - one of catchiest and most impressive three minute listens I've heard this year. With influences ranging from Bon Iver and Coldplay to Fleetwood Mac, JUNG's sound is modern, melodic indie with smooth upbeat vocals, subtle electronic undertones, and clean production.
The duo made their official debut in April with single release "Vera", a track that's already garnered over 600,000 streams on Spotify alone in a short time. If you're a regular reader of SoundThread Music Blog, you might also recognize Henrik Ljungqvist as vocalist and one-fifth of indie pop band Join the Riot, whose stunning EP release (Echo) we shared at the start of the year.
JUNG definitely lands on the list of exiting new music acts hailing from Sweden - and we are hoping to hear a lot more great music from this talented duo! In the meantime, we leave you with a live studio performance of "Vera" from the brothers Ljungqvist at Stockholm's Rixmixningsverket Studio.
