Árni Ehmann | Beneath the Burning Bridge (new single)
Reykjavik-based singer-songwriter Árni Ehmann releases his cinematic and personal new single, "Beneath the Burning Bridge." I first discovered the music of this emerging Icelandic musician with his impressive 2018 single, "Night Caller."
Recorded with Arnar Guðjónsson at Aeronaut Studios, the song's breezy guitars and pulsing bassline drive the tempo, giving the track a chill, nighttime vibe. Árni's steady, emotive vocals accentuate the soundscape of "Beneath the Burning Bridge," conjuring up images of wide-open terrain and expansive evening skies.
Behind the lyrics, Árni relates the personal backstory of "Beneath the Burning Bridge," remarking, "On the parking lot under a bridge outside the club in Stuttgart where I train Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, some young people live, they have put up a tent and some mattresses. As a teen, I got to know that life, using drugs to feel better and to forget, not knowing where I would sleep that day or if at all."
The track's relaxed, easy atmosphere takes its inspiration from an empathetic and very human aspect of Árni's past experiences. "I also remember enjoying every day with some friends, getting high, and enjoying the company of many beautiful souls," Árni recalls. "Seeing these young people making the best out of every day living in a tent under this bridge brought me back, that's where the lyrics and melody came from."
