In the span of just one month, NYC-based singer-songwriter and instrumentalist ALLIIOP has made her debut in the indie alternative pop scene with three impressive singles ("Molly", "Red Memories", "Mon Amour, Mon Amour"). While new to the music scene, ALLIIOP is no stranger to the entertainment industry - in addition to being a self-taught pianist and playing clarinet since age 12, her credits include accomplished actress, professionally trained ballet dancer, and model. And did I mention that ALLIIOP is only 15 years old? Impressive!
ALLIIOP's decision to venture into music was made in June 2018 when she sat by the piano and decided to put one of her many poems into music. She recorded a demo that she sent to several NYC record labels. What she didn't expect was that in a week she would be signed to Bentley Records and be producing her first three singles.
Debut single "Molly" is a reassuring, hopeful piano-driven ballad that speaks to the heart of the listener, showcasing ALLIIOP's hearfelt, soulful vocal style. In just one month, the single is fast approaching 5,000 streams on Spotify.
"Red Memories" is my favorite of the three singles. It's low-fi sound, vocal production, and atmospheric (and somewhat unsettling) ending all perfectly suit this elegant, chill, and somewhat bluesy-sounding composition. With running length of just under two minutes, I often find myself hitting 'back' to listen to this more than once.
It's fitting that ALLIIOP's most recent single ("Mon Amour, Mon Amour") is sung completely in French. Among her acting credits are a recurring role on the French TV series Marseilles, and supporting role in the upcoming French drama film Dévoilées. Sounding like an authentic French chanteuse, accompanied by strummed ukulele, the emotion and sincerity in ALLIIOP's vocals on this track are exceptional.
ALLIIOP is currently working on completing her upcoming EP which is set to be released later in 2018. Based on the three samples above, this is sure to be an outstanding and promising release from this emerging, gifted musician.
