KÅRP | Freak Smile (new single)

Hailing from Gothenburg, Sweden, KÅRP (pronounced 'KORP') is a new underground, electronic band consisting of vocalist Anna-Maria Lundberg and members of Swedish bands Hagaliden and Teenman. After the success of their first two singles ("Therapist^2" and "She 3/4"), the band released their most recent single "Freak Smile" earlier this year.

One listen to this dreamy, pulsing electronic gem was all I needed to become immediately hooked on this brilliant song. Anna-Marie's strong, soaring vocals - reminiscent of Karin Dreijer (The Knife) and Lyyke Li - solidly elevate this track's melodic, anthemic chorus. On their Facebook page, the band labels their unique musical style as 'Death Disco/Apokalypso' - I love the way that rolls off the tongue!

KÅRP's social media sites report that the band is releasing an album this Fall. Based on what we've already heard in their first three singles, this is an album I'm excited to hear, and a band that I think has a tremendous amount of international breakthrough potential.

For more information about KÅRP, follow the band on social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) and find their music on SoundCloud, Spotify and iTunes.
