The Mascot Theory | "Trust and Bones"

album cover artwork for "trust and bones"

"Trust and Bones" is the third full-length album release from Madison, WI based folk rock band The Mascot Theory, recent winner of the Madison Area Music Association 2016 Artist of the Year Award. Recorded at Clutch Sound in Madison, WI in the former Smart Studios (Nirvana, Death Cab For Cutie, Garbage) and mixed in Nashville, TN at The Record Shop, "Trust and Bones" is scheduled for official release on Friday, October 14.

The Mascot Theory (TMT) is comprised of Erik Kjelland (lead vocals, acoustic guitar, harmonica), Adam White (lead guitar, vocals), Nick Fry (upright bass, vocals), and Paul Metz (drums, percussion, vocals). The band's overall sound is strong, well-polished acoustic folk rock, with underlying elements of bluegrass and Americana. This is energetic, upbeat alternative country with influences from artists such as Mumford and Sons, The Avett Brothers, Ryan Adams and Dawes.

TMT released their debut album "Under the Borrowed Moon" in 2012, followed by "Hand Me Down Miracles" (2014), and recently released an EP entitled "Esperanto", containing four new songs and a live version of their song "Monterey", as performed at the 2015 Madison Area Music Awards with members of the Madison Youth Choirs and the Black Star Drum Line.

"Trust and Bones" is an outstanding collection of well-written, catchy songs with a fresh, consistent sound where the band's polished harmonies are prominent from start to finish. Standout tracks include "Fault Line", the catchy, singalong "Red Shift Back to Blue", "Bright Side of Lightning" and "Your Eyes Give You Away" from which the album's title originates.
