Following the release of his debut single, "The Getaway", Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter and producer Ben Rice ushers the changing of the seasons on this first day of Fall with his reflective new single, "Autumn Days".
Teaming up once again with Pete Remm (piano, mellotron), Greg Wieczorek (drums, percussion), "Autumn Days" starts with gently-strummed acoustic guitar, and sparse, well-placed sprinkling of piano to ease the listener into the hope and anxiety surrounding the transition from Summer to Autumn. Ben's smooth, steady vocals on the verses give way to yearning, gently emotive intonations at the refrain, providing the perfect vocal breadth and accompaniment to the song's charming melody. "Autumn Days" gently builds to its impressive, distant and lonely-sounding electric guitar solo at the bridge - the kind of atmosphere that conjures up images of flickering lighters and uplifted cell phones in a live setting.
Ben describes the inspiration and theme of "Autumn Days", noting: "In early September, there's always a feeling that I get as the air starts to change. It's that same feeling I had when I was a kid: knowing it's time to head back to school, missing and longing for something or someone, but also feeling like I had a fresh start."
Based on the strength of "Autumn Days" and "The Getaway", Ben's forthcoming album release will be one you'll want to put on your musical radar.
