Glasgow-based ambient pop band Who's Olivia? recently released its spellbinding, atmospheric debut single, "She." Comprised of Colette McLaughlin (lead vocals, guitar, piano), Max Murphy (guitar, synth, vocals), Ben Main (bass, vocals), and Rhys Robertson (drums, vocals), the foursome has been making music together over the past year.
Delicately embellished with sparse, electronic beats and a synthesized, drone-like undercurrent, "She" is guided by a reflective, fingerstyle electric guitar that leads the listener throughout the song. Colette's mesmerizing, emotive vocals echo throughout, and powerfully radiate at the track's moving, breezy and eerie-sounding chorus. With solid songwriting and musical talent at its core, "She" is an impressive debut single for this emerging band - this is brilliant, ethereal indie that you need to hear.
In their relatively short time together as a band, Who's Olivia? has had the opportunity to play a number of events, including Celtic Connections and King Tuts Summer Sessions. The band is currently preparing for their upcoming performance on October 12 at the Tenement Trail Festival, Scotland's biggest festival for music discovery. If Glasgow is your neck of the woods, be sure to check out the event, which features over 60 bands across multiple venues.
