Today's post is a shout out to South London-based indie rock band Taxi Joe. Formed in 2005, the band consists of lead singer Joe Acres, drummer Louis Morgan and bassist Devid Dell'Aiera. The band name stems from Joe's father - a taxicab driver - frequently shuttling around Joe and his bandmates back in their early days. Over the past few months, Taxi Joe has released a series of impressive singles, and is attracting a steadily-growing fan base in their native England and beyond. The buzz of the band's current single, "Fire", recently landed them an interview and performance spot on Kent-based KMTV's "BASSed in Kent", and the band recently wrapped up a series of live performances in London, as well as one at NYC's Parkside Lounge.
With eclectic musical influences ranging from blues and soul to pop and Britpop, Taxi Joe's recent singles present big guitars and catchy hooks, with strong, heartfelt vocals - their overall sound likened to that of bands such as Arctic Monkeys and Catfish and the Bottlemen.
Keep an eye out for an upcoming music video for the band's new single "Fire", and take a listen to Taxi Joe's recent singles, "Little Bit of Something Else" and "The Way I Want To Go" - the latter particularly stands out as an impressive, energetic indie rock anthem loaded with feeling and warmth. On that note, we leave you with the accompanying official music video to "The Way I Want To Go", edited and directed by Aaron Truss, and of course, featuring Taxi Joe.
