Stockholm Noir | Alive/Pazuzu (new single)

A few months have elapsed since we last heard new music from Swedish indie/electronic project Stockholm Noir. I first fell in love with their fresh, electronic sound and array of stunning vocal performances going back one year to their breakthrough debut single, "Hopeless Dreams." The band's captivating and euphoric single "Boy Like A Girl (feat. Ofelia)" easily landed in SoundThread Music Blog's Top 20 Songs of 2017.

The 'black shadow of electronic music' returns with two new tracks. The first, "Alive", is a vibrant new single that gradually ascends from a gentle, piano-backed ballad with delicate, ethereal vocals (similar to the style of "Hopeless Dreams") to a bright, bursting dance anthem. While the lyrical theme of the track deals with losing a partner due to sickness, from a pure musical perspective, "Alive" emanates feelings of release and uplifting energy - music that is destined for summer music playlists, beach days, and club nights. From the band's press release: "Alive is about loving someone deeply but knowing you will lose that love for some reason. There is nothing you can do about it but surrender.

On the flipside, companion track "Pazuzu" is an intense instrumental techno track suited for all who suffer from still-sitting days at work or school: prescription-free and highly recommended by doctors worldwide.

The group is now also announcing an accompanying music video for "Alive" that will be released in connection something unknown they are not willing to reveal yet. While no one may be quite certain of what else musically might be next for the mysterious Stockholm Noir, based on their past single releases, I'm pretty sure it's going to involve more, equally-as-impressive ear candy from this rising electronic music outfit. Keep your eyes and ears open!
